Sunday Worship and Musings

Those ancient words, written down by God-inspired men, are STILL true today. There is 'hope for the hopeless, rest for the weary, love for the broken hearted'. If you are in despair, crying, with no hope in your heart, there IS an answer. His name is Jesus. Come to Him as a little child would come, simply and humbly.

This song IS my heart's desire. I know I fail all too often, but I'm grateful for my Jesus giving me His grace yet again.

"One day the Father of Glory reached down with His righteous right Hand/ He saved me and gave me a story and I can't help but tell it again/ I've been touched by the strong Hand of love /I've been saved by the Father above// I'm in the embrace of amazing grace/ I've been touched by the strong hand of love" - C. Kinsey
This song was given to a young man at my church some years ago, and we still sing it today.

Lord bless your Sunday,

Roy & Dale

I'm working on a Roy & Dale post that I hope will give everyone a glimpse of this extraordinary couple's lives. They were huge proponents of adoption, no strangers to sorrow and Christians in the best sense of the word.

Musical Musings

It's incredible how much your memories can be triggered by music.

For me, just a few of the songs that trigger memories are.....

"Redeemed" by Big Daddy Weave will always bring a certain conversation strolling along a wooded path with my dear friend Nat to mind.

"I'm A Seed" by the David Crowder Band takes me back to Wednesday evenings in midsummer 2012 riding to church in the backseat of my brother's car; wind whipping through the open windows.

"Your Love, O Lord" by Third Day instantly brings a nippy late September sunset spent with fellow believers on the shore of Lake Michigan. We sang our hearts out under the bracingly blue evening sky. There is something very profound about looking up into a wide open, clear heaven as you sing the lyric, "Your faithfulness stretches to the skies" or looking at the waves lapping the shore as you sing, "Your justice flows like the ocean's tide". A year and a half later, I still go back to that wonderful night whenever I hear the song play.

"Open Skies" by The David Crowder band brings the memories of my week as a volunteer waitress at a Mennonite summer camp called Black Rock Retreat back to mind. God taught me a lot in that brief 5 day period.

What are your musical memories?

Sunday Thankfuls and Worship

I'm thankful that God is providing for me, despite paying more taxes this year.
I'm thankful for verses of Scripture like this one... "I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord." - Psalm 122:1
I'm thankful for the privilege of meeting with my fellow Christians openly & freely.

Oh we need the fresh outpour so much!

Winter Nostalgia

I wrote this back at the beginning of 2010, and who knows, some of it was probably was residing in my journal for a while before that. Nostalgia for being a kid comes and goes at funny times.

Winter to me is:

Hot cocoa in the mornings
Snowball fights
Warm sweaters
It's funny how snow makes everything beautiful.

Wet outdoor things always in the dryer
Beef stew for supper
Snow walks

Curling up with a good book
Cleaning off the car after a snowstorm
Shoveling the neighbor's driveway

Dancing with excitement to see the snow come down
Making and eating snow ice cream

Grasses in Winter, inverted to negative & distorted perspective

Roy, Dale, The Sons of the Pioneers..... among others

I absolutely love listening to the awesomeness of Roy Rogers, Dale Evans & The Sons of the Pioneers in their heyday of the 30's - 50's. It's been termed "Western Swing" & "Western movie music" among other things. Me - I just call it AWESOME!!!!!
Got this stuck in my head today. I was being the major grump tonight & somehow this earwormed its way in. (Thankfully.)

This followed the above pretty quickly, reminding me that I don't need to be blue! I've got work!

I needed to remember this one earlier today... Hehe, I was rather a grouchy pants today.

The audio is just a touch odd sounding in spots but you can hear the purity of their harmony. This is a great song! It has that wide open, lonesome sound to it.

A true Western classic, done with Roy's inimitable touch.

Great song, and so beautifully sung!

I know this is a video heavy post, but these songs are worth it! If you have to pick - the 2nd one & the 3rd from the last.
