"Kildee House" (review)

I first read this from the library years ago. It's a lovely nature story. A painfully shy man named Jerome Kildee retires onto a California mountain. The 4th wall of his tiny cabin is a redwood trunk.

Even though Mr. Kildee doesn't like talking with or seeing people, he soon becomes entangled with feuding young neighbors, raccoons, spotted skunks, and variously assorted wildlife. The story shows you what happens and how Jerome rediscovers (really just discovers) himself in a wildlife setting.

A childhood treasure I'm glad to have for my own now. :D

    1. Thanks for stopping by. I actually think I may have read a portion either in 1 of my ABeka school readers or a literature anthology of my mom's. Then I know I did borrow it from the library!
