Putting up corn

My Mom saw a video similar to this one...
and showed it to my Dad who was inspired.
So....

 This ^ happened last Friday..
Unfortunately, the yield wasn't as great as I had hoped for. We ended up with 14 qt bags plus a partial one after blanching & cooling 100+ ears.

Of course - it would've been slightly more if I hadn't kept nibbling on the kernels I cut the old fashioned way.
Dad and I are both hoping to put up another batch of corn, but first up?

  1. 14 quart bags is still wonderful! We always have issues when growing corn. Last year they were raptured! There one day and gone the next!!! :)

Thank you for sharing your projects on the Art of Home-Making Mondays!

    1. Haha, I actually bought the corn from a farmstand, our place is just too tiny to grow corn on. My paternal grandmother said that it probably would take between 5-7 ears of corn for each quart, and it ended up being a little more. The great thing about the corn was its sweetness. So delicious! We did decide that next year we are cutting it outside. Since we decided to do it in the kitchen - oh the mess we had to wipe up afterwards.
