Passing
I can't believe how time flies.
Six long years since my maternal grandfather went to heaven.
Nineteen since my littlest brother went to heaven,
Same day, thirteen years apart.
Poppa finally got to meet his youngest grandson.
Harmonica playing reminds me of Poppa every time I hear someone using that instrument.
Heaven is for real, and I wish I could hug you both. But I know you are around the throne of God rejoicing.
David J. G. 1995
Poppa Johnson 1922-2008
You will always be loved.

Sunday Worship
To come into the presence of the living God is to be changed, you cannot come into His high and holy place and stay the same
So change us Lord, remake us Lord, conform us to the image of Your Son
So change us Lord, remake us Lord, 'til Father, Spirit, Jesus we are one
- Song we sing at church (don't know the name)

Fun-Day Off
Ahhhhh, I sure had fun today! I wanted to use our bread maker to make some dinner roll dough, then ended up making a whole bunch more food.
I love cooking, so it was fun for me to make a thorough going mess in the kitchen. Since I was a first grader, I've enjoyed cooking new things
. Lately though, I've not been able to help my mom as much as I would like to - work.
Mom helped me make banana pudding with Nilla wafers, stuffed eggs for Dad, and a ham steak for supper. (Along with washing a whole bunch of dishes! thank you Mom!)
Coleslaw 2 ways - pan-fried with bacon drippings and cold with a creamy dill dressing (no bacon involved in thst one). Then while the bread maker was out, we tossed up another loaf of bread.
Best part? Getting to listen to an old audiobook favorite or 2. When the book gets aplayin', I love it.

Sweet & Spicy Bacon Chicken
Saturday I made this for the young people's Bible Study I attend, and it was enjoyed. I adapted/combined these 2 recipes and will definitely make it again
Sweet & Spicy Bacon Chicken Recipe | Just A Pinch Recipes
Bacon Wrapped Chicken Tenders (brown sugar chili powder ...
Bacon - i used maple flavor (plain smoked might've worked better)
boneless, skinless chicken breast - cut into tenders (freeze for 20 minutes to make it easier to cut)
paprika
garlic powder
fresh-ground black pepper
Real Salt salt
chili powder (I had to use a lot - makes me think it wasn't very fresh.) (If you have good fresh chili powder, by all means, leave out the cayenne)
a dash or so of cayenne pepper
a small pinch of ginger
light brown sugar to coat
You can bake these in the oven, but I believe the bacon would be much crispier on a grill. Also, I pre-cooked the bacon slightly, so that the chicken and bacon would cook more evenly. (Good thing too!)

Sunday Worship, Musings
Today was thought-provoking as to the message(s) at church. The young people's Bible Study I'm a part of stepped up to take care of the service this morning. There were 3 speakers who gave short talks. The first message was, Get Understanding, the second was about how The Fear of Man is a trap. And the last was about when we love others with the Christ-like, agape love - even those who wrong us - then we draw the lost to know Jesus.. M
Oh boy did those messages hit home today. You don't have to listen to a long teaching to get a lot out of what you hear. But as the first message drove home, are you listening and heeding what is said? Because, you can listen without comprehending what is being taught. Proverbs 4:5, 7 says " Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding."

Long Winter... Other Rambles
It's been a couple weeks since I wrote here last. We just got another 7 or so inches last night of more snow.... I'm so ready for winter to be over now. It's insane - my city is over 6 million dollars into its 2013/2014 snow budget, the salt barns are veeeery low, the streets almost never get a chance to dry out before more snow comes through. I officially have spring fever and we still have over a month and a half of winter to go!
And, I've managed to have not one but two colds. *snorts* So much fun.
On the bright side - I got new tires for my car!!!!! I was so thankful, particularly since I was able to get 4 tires for just 72 dollars more than the price I thought I would have to pay for 2! Jesus did it! I went to the tire store with my dad and we ended up speaking with the manager. The tires must've been pretty terrible. The manager quoted me a price for 4 tires and said he was giving me 1 free. The price included installation and tax.
I sang for joy!
"My God shall supply ALL of my needs according to His riches and glory by Christ Jesus."
Since the weather has been so nasty, I've gotten off work early quite a bit when I work at night. So, recently, I set up my art studio again.
I did this after looking at craft room ideas on Pinterest in September 2012. Dad helped to install the shelving system. I also use a corner of my dresser to hold my 8 oz. bottles of acrylic. A fancy flowerpot holds decorative edge scissors and an ever growing collection of Sharpies.
Am praying about things related to this hobby that is teetering on being a full grown business (maybe? I don't know yet).
